Job description

We are seeking a dependable Personal Care Attendant and Companion to support an independent, physically disabled university student relocating to Washington, D.C. This role offers valuable hands-on experience for students and professionals in nursing, pre-medical, public health, or Direct Support Professional (DSP) fields, paired with competitive compensation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with campus and community navigation, ensuring safe and timely arrival 

  • Provide comprehensive support with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and feeding

  • Perform safe transfers

  • Maintain an organized, accessible living space, including light housekeeping

  • Accompany the client to appointments, errands, and community activities

Qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to respecting client autonomy

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Minimum age of 18

  • Must pass a multi-state criminal background check and healthcare registry screening

  • Shift flexibility across first, second, and third shifts available — weekdays, weekends, and overnight, up to 40 hours weekly
